Haiti (formerly Photo Aid:Haiti
The situation in Haiti has stabilized and I have just come back from a month there, which included two weeks with photographer’s who flew in to join me. Flights to Port au Prince have resumed and I am putting together a group for early April now…..we will be working on stories relating to the recovery in Haiti, including the on-going story of the the IDP camps that are currently “home” to more than 200,000 Haitians. Portfolio and screening are required. Pricing for the workshop is set a $1,500 at this time. We expect to have groups no more than 6, working on the ground, the sessions will last for one week, and our dates are flexible and dependent on enrollment. Costs are inclusive of local transportation, but do not include airfare, hotel, and food, and participants will be responsible for bringing in essential, supplies which we will detail for you, including enough food for your stay. There will also be limited housing possibilities and participants should understand that they will be working in third world country, and that a certain amount of risk is involved. Stephen Shames: Children of Uganda!
This workshop will give students an unprecedented opportunity to photograph the lives of Ugandan children. World renown photographer Stephen Shames has created the NGO LEAD: Uganda to improve the lives of Ugandan children. In this workshop, after a few introductory days in Kampala, you will accompany a Ugandan children to their home all over their country and photograph daily life. We will all meet at the end of the workshop and share our adventures in a closing party and slideshow. The children will be both your fixers and your photo subjects in this groundbreaking event.

Andy Levin and Friends: Coney Island 360 DegreesThis workshop will explore the community of Coney Island as bordered by Brighton Beach to the east and the housing projects on the west, and will focus on the relationship between the amusement area and the surrounding community, using all styles of photography. Photographers will be encouraged to develop projects that reveal the culture of the community and as it is interwoven with the amusements and beach areas. The final Saturday of the workshop is the day of the Mermaid Parade, and the project concludes with a “Slideshow by the Seashore” on Sunday.
Limit of 15, other instructors will be added should registration warrant.
