100Eyes Workshops with Andy Levin

Registration is now open for: Mardi Gras 2012 and Catching the Spirit: Photographing Music December 2011 workshops in New Orleans.

Join with talented and motivated photographers who want to develop their skills in creating visually compelling photography that is reflective of our evolving world. Students are tasked with developing their photographic and visual ideas over the course of the seven day shooting workshops, and we work together in creating photographic essays. Daily editing sessions and a one and a one on one portfolio review, are integral parts of a group environment that emphasizes cooperation and a shared goal of creating meaningful and compelling work. Not to mention that we have a great time!

Andy has a track record of taking photographers work to another level by helping them to develop their personal vision and ideas.
As a world traveled former Life Magazine contributing photographer who has been fortunate to work with some of the best editors in the glory days of photography, as well as being a current contributor to magazines and websites of media entities like Mother Jones, Time, French GEO, Greenpeace and others, Levin’s love of photography and talent is contagious. His commitment to teaching makes your development as a photographer the highest priority! As an editor he has given back to the community by promoting the work of today’s young photographers, and curating exhibitions for the New Orleans Photo Alliance.

Most classes are limited to a maximum of 8 photographers.

"I jumped out of a plane once, while wearing a perfectly good parachute. The most difficult task in that endeavor was trusting the instructor and taking that step out the door...onto the ledge and letting go. Trusting the instructor and letting go...after that, the free-fall was an adrenaline rush. That is the best analogy I can use to describe my experience in the workshop. I trusted Andy’s input, his suggestions...and I let go of many preconceptions, habits and photographic comforts. His observations and assessments of my work in progress were always constructive, informative and purposeful. I relished every moment our group talked about our work, other people’s work, Andy’s work...anything photography related. The entire week was an adrenaline rush. Each of us in the workshop brought different sensibilities to the group project. We had a wonderful chemistry. We worked hard. We made the most of our time, much of it unstructured but focused on a tangible goal. We pushed each other to new limits, out of our comfort zones. We learned from Andy, and we learned from each other.
